CANADA & THE U.S. – ALLIES & PARTNERS
The Colorado Springs World Affairs Council will host a special edition of its Ambassador Luncheon series on Thursday, December 4th, with a spotlight on the U.S.-Canadian security and commercial relationship.
Joining us at the luncheon will be the Canadian Armed Forces Chief of the Defence Staff, General Tom Lawson, and Canada’s Consul General in Denver, Ms. Marcy Grossman.
General Tom Lawson is Canada’s senior serving military officer; prior to October 2012, he served as Deputy Commander of North American Aerospace Defense Command, Peterson AFB.
Marcy Grossman has been Canada’s Consul General in Denver since 2012; she previously served as Consul General in Miami, Deputy Consul General in Los Angeles, and Sr. Trade Commissioner in Dallas.
Luncheon will be held at the Antlers Hilton Hotel on Thursday, December 4th, beginning at 11:30 a.m. The program will begin shortly after noon. The Consul General will make brief remarks and then introduce General Lawson. After a question-and-answer session, the program will adjourn at 1:30 p.m.
This Remembrance Day/Veterans Day Canadians paid special tribute to two fallen soldiers: Corporal Nathan Cirillo and Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent. Cpl Cirillo was killed Oct 22, while performing sentry duty at the National War Memorial in Ottawa. Just days before, WO Vincent was killed in a targeted hit-and-run that also injured a fellow soldier. Both incidents were the result of lone attackers – a grim, but not unique, reminder of a common threat facing both Canada & the U.S. Our nations are allies in the defense of North America, in NATO, and in Afghanistan. Canada is the U.S.’ largest trade partner, with imports & exports totaling over $700 billion.
This event is open to the public. Hotel garage parking will be validated at the event.
