CANADA COLORADO ASSOCIATION MISSION STATEMENT

“To Act as a resource for social networking amongst Canadians and Americans that reside in Colorado"

 This will be accomplished by:

• Offering a means for Canadian expatriates and Colorado residents who wish to maintain connections with Canadians while in Colorado
• Promoting Canadian events in Colorado and assisting other agencies or organizations to provide the same
• Providing assistance to people new to Colorado from Canada
• Assisting the Canadian Consul General’s Office as may be requested.

According to the U.S. Census, 820,771 U.S. residents in 2000 were born in Canada. Canadian-born residents represented 2.6 percent of the United States' total foreign-born population.

Ian Barclay Ian Barclay, CPA/PFS Ian was born and raised in Montreal, Quebec. He studied finance and accounting at McGill University in Montreal, and later attended the Graduate Tax Program at the University of Denver School of Law. Ian worked for many years with two Big Four accounting firms in Canada and the United States providing international tax consulting and financial planning services. He later started a tax only CPA firm that eventually evolved into his current firm, Jones Barclay Boston, a boutique- fee only, wealth management firm. Ian is a principal with Jones Barclay Boston and provides tax consulting and comprehensive financial advisory services to wealthy individuals and families throughout the U.S. and Canada. Ian is married to Annette, a family physician. They have 3 children and 3 stepchildren and reside in Littleton, Colorado.

Fran Troppmann Frances Troppmann (Redinger) was born in Camrose Alberta and raised on a farm at Duhamel, Alberta. She has a BSc in HE from the University of Alberta. She is a stay at home Mom to 2 children and moved many times, as Al was transferred for employment by PCL Construction. She and Al have lived in Denver for 15 years. Fran enjoys gardening, reading, and all types of crafts. She became involved in CCA shortly after moving here and has hosted several events for the organization on her driveway.

Wes Cooper Wes was born in Thunder Bay, Ontario and raised primarily in Calgary. He attended the University of Lethbridge and graduated in 1995 with a degree in International Business and a minor in German while also competing nationally in Judo. After university he spent a year working in Germany for Adidas at their world headquarters. Returning to Canada in 1996 he joined the Royal Bank of Canada in Calgary and then moved to Denver in 1998. Denver was a great training ground where Wes got involved in many outdoor activities, one being triathlons and in 1999 he completed Ironman Canada in Penticton, BC. In 2003 Wes studied Construction Management at Colorado State University in Denver to follow in his family’s heritage as a 4th generation general contractor. Wes owns and operates Basements & Beyond, a residential remodeling company specializing in basements, kitchens and whole house remodels. His wife, Tammy Cooper, is from Sudbury, Ontario and works with Fuller Sotheby’s Residential Real Estate. They enjoy getting back to Canada during the summer to see relatives and spend time by the lake.

Brock West Winston Brock West Brock was born and raised in the suburbs of Toronto. After graduating from the University of Toronto in engineering, he began his career in North Bay Ontario and obtained his Professional Engineering license... After three years in North Bay, he accepted an offer to move to the company headquarters in New York City where he met his wife Helen. In 1972 the company decided to relocate its headquarters from NYC to Denver CO. Brock retired as a CEO having, spent 25 years leading the management of manufacturing businesses and companies serving both domestic and international markets. He joined Canada Colorado in the early 1990’s serving as a Director and President of the Board. Brock and Helen are members of Pinehurst Country Club where he has held similar positions on the Board of Directors All Brock’s siblings and their families continue to live in Canada and are spread out from Halifax to Victoria.

Garth Wilson GARTH L. WILSON Garth was born and raised in Kimberley, BC then attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, where he studied Civil Engineering – graduating with a BSCE in 1964. He worked for BC Hydro near Hudson Hope from graduation to 1967. He met Betty (Robinson) in November 1964 and they were married in Vancouver in December 1965. They moved from Hudson Hope to Montreal in 1967 to take in the excitement of Expo 67 and Quebec province where he worked in the Public Works Department at the City of Westmount. In July 1970 he accepted a position with Engineering Consultants, Inc (ECI) of Denver, CO in west-central Greece. He went to Burma (now Myanmar) in 1973; to Craig, CO in 1974; Central Luzon, Philippines from 1975 to 1977; Northern Luzon from 1977 to 1980; Western Colorado from 1980 to 1982; then Central Java, Indonesia from 1983 to 1984. In 1984, he left ECI and worked his way up in Green Construction Co. living in northern California for a year, then Salt Lake City, Utah until 1987 when he transferred to Denver. In 1994 he returned to ECI as Vice President then Unit Manager in the Denver office. Work took him to Lebanon, Peru, India and many western and some eastern states. In 2003 he started his own consulting firm – naming it Engineering and Construction Insights to retain a tie to the old ECI. As an independent consultant he did work for projects in Colorado, California, Turkey, Laos, Arizona, Utah, Puerto Rico, Germany and in BC. He continues to consult part-time and enjoys fishing, golf, his antique car (Nash Metropolitan) and traveling with Betty. Together, they have visited many parts of the world but always enjoy returning to BC and their home in Denver.

Pierre G. Boissé Pierre – Is now a Financial Advisor at New England Financial in Denver. Pierre is originally from Montréal, where he practiced as an Administrateur Agrée Conseil (Chartered Administrator "Advisor") specializing in international and offshore private & investment banking for businesses, trusts and individual clients. Pierre was co-founder and managing partner of Boissé, Lasnier & Associates, in 1982. In1987, Pierre became Managing Partner of Castle (USA), LLC and then in 1999 became Chairman and CEO of First Colorado Depository Corp. Until his founding of Cross Borders Advisors, LLC in 2003, he acted as interim CEO of Aspen Financial Solutions of America, LLC, a prepaid card company. Pierre’s experience in the investment business is greatly diversified. His career has brought him to collaborate with many of the world’s largest banks, trusts, insurance and investment companies, as well as law and accounting firms – domestic and offshore. Pierre is fluent both in French and English. He has vast experience regarding the successful development of early stage companies. He is a previous member of The Offshore Institute, the International Fiscal Association, the International Tax Planners Association and the European Independent Financial Advisors. He has been a Board Member of many international companies, including Celtic Trust in Belize and Meridian Management in IOM. Pierre is married to Mindy and has 4 children all living in the Denver area.
